Stone patio ideas are the next big thing.
So what are they and how can you make them?
Here’s a guide to the latest developments.
1.
The ‘Stone” patio The “Stone” style patio is a combination of a large open-air patio with a sliding roof.
It is similar to the “Mountain” style but the “Stone”, with its exposed metal roof, has been designed to be used in summer months.
A “Stone Garden” is also available in the form of a stone terrace that can be extended for a further 3 metres.
It has been described as “a perfect outdoor terrace”.
It can be constructed as a patio, walk-in or a traditional garden.
2.
The “Mt Rushmore” style garden The “mt rushmore” is a concept garden built on top of a wooden or steel foundation.
It combines the qualities of a traditional home garden with a stone patio.
This garden is called “mumford garden” and is made of two sections of stone with a “mountain” roof and a sliding window on the lower level.
It can also be built as a walk-up garden.
The project is being developed by M&G Architecture, which also produces the “Garden” and “Hillside” designs.
It was designed by Peter Seddon, an artist who specialises in “garden architecture”.
The project has been named one of the best new developments in the UK. 3.
The wooden patio in “Stone Hillside” The “stone hillside” is an open-plan terrace built on a concrete base.
This terrace is located in a private residential development in Newham, west London.
It incorporates a “Stone garden” with an exposed metal floor.
This is made possible by the installation of a steel roof on top, and a vertical sliding roof on the side.
It also features a “mushroom patch” which allows people to grow mushrooms on the ground.
The design was built to be “green”, which means that it contains no pesticides or fertilisers.
4.
The traditional garden in “Hilltop” This “hilltop” garden has been built to look like a “Mumford” or “Hill Side”.
The garden is made up of three sections of concrete, one on top and two on the sides.
The concrete sections are built into a “staircase” of stone, and the sides are built from steel beams.
It offers “mixed uses” such as “storage”, as an “agricultural storage” or as a “vacation cottage”.
5.
The stone garden in a traditional “Mums” garden In a traditional traditional “mums” (traditional homes) garden, the “wooden patio” is placed over a roof that is raised by the “mumps”, or wooden stumps.
The roof is raised to create an enclosed “mumm” or garden.
This traditional “wood-stacked” garden also offers “discoveries”.
6.
The Stone patio in the “Hillview” style This “Stone patio” can be a walk in or a walk down garden.
It’s made up entirely of concrete.
This can be used as a terrace, walk up garden or as an extension to a traditional mums garden.
7.
The hillside terrace in the traditional “Hillcrest” style The “Hill view” style terrace can be designed in either of the following ways: a) with a large, open-fronted, outdoor terracing with an open window.
This “Hill View” style is ideal for people who want a more urban-like feel or for those who want to have a more open-ended garden.
b) with an underground terracing, which can be built with a metal roof and an open windowsill.
This type of terrace has been popular with families looking for a “green” terrace with an “open view” to the outside.
8.
A traditional “Gardening” terraces in the modern “Hill” style Another way to make a “Hill-view” terracing is to build one of these traditional “hillcrest terraces” with a steel and iron roof and metal windowsill and an outdoor terracotta floor.
These terraces are ideal for “traditional” gardens, but can also work as a garden extension.
9.
The terrace above the “Elder Tree” in “Mummyford” style In “Mummies” style, you can build a “traditional garden” that combines the advantages of a garden terrace and a traditional house garden.
These “mummies” are usually built with wooden terraces and covered in a stone garden.
There is also an option to build an “extended” garden with wooden and stone walls and a “wood house” that can provide a “home-like” feeling to the garden.
