LUXEMBOURG (AP) The French film industry has won the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival for the “Stone” starring Eli Stone and Daniel Kaluuya.
The win marks Stone’s fourth win in the top 10, with the others being “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” “The Martian” and “The Jungle Book.”
Stone has previously won the award at Cannes and in 2008 with “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.”
Stone’s other films include “The Legend of Tarzan” and the upcoming “Crocodile Dundee.”
The winner of the Best Independent Film Oscar, “The Stone,” is set to open nationwide later this month.
The film won the Critics Choice Award for Best Documentary at the festival and also won two awards at Cannes for best sound editing and best editing.
Stone, Kaluuy and Kaluwon made their debut in the film industry when they wrote the script for “Stone,” which tells the story of a young man who is taken in by an old man and his wife, who are trying to raise their four children.
The film also stars Stone, a French actor.
