Former Vice President Joe “Joe Biden” Biden Jr. is divorcing his wife of nearly a decade, a lawyer for the couple told The Hill.
The divorce filing Tuesday comes a week after his youngest daughter, Sarah, told The Washington Post that she was left alone with the then-vice president, saying that Biden told her “get the heck out” and made her “feel unsafe” while at his Virginia home.
Biden, who is in his 60s, filed for divorce in Virginia on Tuesday.
His filing comes a day after his eldest daughter, 23, told the Post that Biden sexually assaulted her when they were students at a private school.
She said Biden sexually harassed her in a school hallway during the 1970s and that Biden once tried to kiss her while she was a senior in high school.
“It’s a complete lie,” Sarah Biden told The Post.
“I’m not mad, I’m not upset, I just don’t think it’s fair.”
She said she was not a “sexual predator” when Biden sexually abused her.
Biden has said that he was not involved in the allegations against Biden, though he has repeatedly denied having any knowledge of them.
“This is a complete and total lie,” he told The New York Times in 2015.
Biden’s lawyers did not immediately respond to The Hill’s request for comment.
The couple have three children: Sarah Biden, 22, is a University of Delaware student; Joe Jr., 21, is an engineering student at George Mason University; and Ben Biden, 18, is pursuing a degree in criminal justice.
