Bolognese city authorities have announced they will pay a total of €150 and a €10,000 cash payment to the families of four people killed during a robbery on Tuesday.
The victims of the attack are from Bolognica, in the north of the country.
The family members of the four men have also been informed.
The victim’s wife, who has been named only as Ayla, was stabbed in her left leg.
The four other people who were stabbed have been identified as Marco, Maria, Marco and Marco’s wife.
They were all taken to hospital by ambulance and were treated for their injuries, the mayor of Bolognia, Stefano D’Antonio, said.
In the attack, a suspect entered a shop and attacked two customers with a knife, he said.
The victim and the victim’s sister were then robbed at gunpoint, and the three were beaten by the suspect before they were shot and killed.
The police investigation is continuing.
Police in Bolognsi have confirmed that a man had been detained in connection with the robbery.
“It was a robbery and we are working with the criminal,” said Stefano Sant’Anna, the local police chief.
The mayor of the nearby town of Brescia, who was also on the scene, described the situation as “horrendous”.
“I was shocked and saddened,” he told reporters.
“The three victims were attacked by a criminal.
They are the children of my family, I have to say.”

A statement from the city’s police commissioner, Antonio Caligiuri, said he was “extremely saddened by the news of the tragic loss of life, especially of children”.
“My heart goes out to the victims’ families, and I ask the media to respect their privacy,” he said in a statement.
“I am convinced that the culprits who killed them are known to the police, and if they were members of a gang they would be arrested.”
